IQNA – With the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, campaigns to boycott dates produced or packaged in occupied Palestinian territories have intensified.

Muslims usually break their fast with dates during the holy month of Ramadan

According to the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the dates produced in illegal settlements in occupied territories are exported under the name of MyJool dates.

It says on its website, “Always check the label when buying dates. Don’t buy dates that are produced or packaged in (occupied territories) or the West Bank settlements. If no country of origin can be found on the box, check the retailer’s website.”

It calls on all Muslims not to break their fast with an Israeli date in Ramadan. “Stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people.”

According to the London-based Friends of Al-Aqsa (FOA) group, occupied Palestine is the largest producer of MyJool dates in the world.

It said the majority of these dates are exported to Europe and sold in large and small supermarkets.

The FOA said in a report that most of the MyJool dates are imported by the UK, the Netherlands, France, Spain and Italy.
